I have birthed a new blogging task!
I was encouraged today to read a chapter from Proverbs everyday. I've done this before, but thought that maybe now is a good time to do it again. Proverbs is such a quirky little book... and as much as it is full of wisdom, it also has some of the strangest verses EVER.
Although it's in the middle of the month, I'm going to start today with Proverbs 17 (matches day of the month). And every day, for a month, I am going to pull out the most interesting, or odd, or weird, or particularly moving verse from that chapter.
I am doing this for multiple reasons:
#1-it will keep me accountable in reading my Proverbs.
#2-it will encourage me to break down the Bible and see how it applies to our lives. #3-the Bible is full of strange things, and I think it's fun to see that sometimes. #4-and lastly, maybe it will be a light of some sort to anyone who reads this.
So here's my verse from Proverbs 17: VERSE 16- "It is senseless to pay tuition to educate a fool, since he has no heart for learning."
This verse makes me think of all the kids at Lee, whose parents paid for their education and they kept failing. ha. BUT-it also makes me wonder how far we, as a country, should continue to offer public education because there is definitely a large crowd that does "not have a heart for learning". But then again, maybe it's our job to train them to have a heart for learning? Honestly, I just think this is a funny verse.
(I will try to keep each day's thoughts short, but with this being the first, I felt the need to give a preface.)
