Letters of Love

It's that time of the year again... if you have been a fellow blog follower of mine you might remember that last year I posted some funny notes I received from students. Although, I haven't received all of those yet (and I'll be sure to post again the funny stuff they say about me), I did receive one particulary precious "letter" from a student.

I told my kids to write to one of their favorite teachers at Lake Forest, and I will make sure the letters get delivered. I thought I might get a few, but not many, and that wasn't my intention anyway. I just wanted to show some encouragement to other teachers as the year drags on.

This is one of the best letters I have ever received from one of my precious and super intelligent girls I have in class. (I wish you could actually see her handwriting! It's flawless!)

**Dear Ms. Fletcher,
I have loved being in your class and enjoy coming to it everyday. I love reading, as in the verb, but the actual class has never been particularly fun. However, this changed when I came to your class this year; I actually look forward to seventh period. You are a fantastic teacher, you know how to take something boring and pump it up to make it better, you are very patient and kind to irritable students, you know what you're talking about, and you care about your students. Another thing I like about you is that you are extremely nice but you still manage to stay in control which is very good. Most teachers that I've had that were kind were way to flexible and bent over backwards too much; you on the otherhand do bend and stretch but when students start pulling you further, you stop, which is actually, in my opinon, a very desirable trait. I will miss your class next year, but I can't stay in the eighth grade forever. You truly are a wonderful teacher, and I can't ask for anything more in a teacher. You rock!

Sincerely,
Signed...

PS-You also have a great sense of fashion; I love your outfits! They are always so cute!**

How fabulous is that?!?! Who knew an eighth grader had that in them? I pretty much tear up every time I read it, because it is just full of encouragement. Ahhh... such words keep me going. (also glad to know that apparently my fashion is still up to par!)

you are very patient and kind to irritable students-this is why you teach and I don't! Keep up the good work Ms. Fletcher!

Wow! "you on the otherhand do bend and stretch but when students start pulling you further, you stop, which is actually, in my opinon, a very desirable trait"--I mean who says that in 8th grade! She is so perceptive! I think you're fashionable too ;)
