No Pops for this girl!

And you thought your cereal was expensive? Can you see the price at the bottom? Over $7!!! Needless to say, I am not eating Pops. I did buy a cheap, Cambodian brand and I was able to get 2 bowls of cereal out of it. Hmmm... portion control, Abby?

The children's home had a Valentine's Day Banquet/Service and they decorated it so nicely! I was very impressed that the youth planned it entirely, all by themselves. There are 5 of them that make up the "committee" and they plan all the youth services. I personally enjoy the hearts at the top that say "Love Never Fail". ;)

Had to put up a Celebrity photo with my new friends Jeff Shroeder and Jordan Lloyd from Big Brother and the Amazing Race. We had fun with them while they were here with the team. Their celebrity name is "JeJo".... but I can't bring myself to say that seriously!

This picture deserves a post all by itself. I am tutoring 8 children from the home and here is a shot of them listening to a story being read on my iPad. This is about the only piece of technology I have to use with them.... as you can see, there is a white board, TV, and radio in the background. My iPad has been a lifesaver and I have been a busy bee downloading TONS of reading, spelling, writing apps to use with the kids. It is SO helpful in giving me extra resources. Yesterday we even had a little contest on it with recognizing words etc. and it was so much fun. I am beyond grateful for this iPad. And the 2nd best thing about this picture is the back of little miss Hannah... her braid, bow and backpack are just the cutest.

I cooked my first meal! Ok ok, nothing dramatic but I'm just glad to slowly be adding new accomplishments to my list over here in the Bode. The right pot is noodles and the left is veggies. Yuuummm...!!! I have to say, it was rather good and it made enough for me to have 2 meals out of it.

I just couldn't resist this picture. I was waiting for Visa photos in Phnom Penh and of course, saw this shrine for Buddha (which are everywhere) and couldn't help but notice the dead, but not skinned, duck? sitting in front of it. You can see it at the bottom of the picture. Or maybe it's a chicken...? Or maybe I can't tell, but either way it's funny.

This picture might look odd to you, but it means a lot to me! If you notice, on the edges of the picture you will see stars glowing in the dark. My bedroom door is in the middle and I took the picture in the dark so you can see the stars. In my room growing up, I had stars everywhere on the wall and ceiling.... also surrounded by Bible verses. So when my grandparents would stay at the house my papaw would turn off the lights and always laugh at the stars. Well they now live in that house while in Cleveland and my papaw still sees those stars and thinks of me. So before I left, he gave me a new pack of stars to put up so that we will be both have them and think of each other. =)

This was great! Such a mix of information. For some reason any food that is "American" is very overpriced over there. I guess they know US Travelers will pay for the taste of home. haha Your dinner looked healthy and fantastic and the note about the stars on the ceiling made me cry. What a romantic man my dad is!! That was such a sweet and thoughtful thing to do!

Your story of the stars and your grandpa made me cry. Sweet stories. So impressed with what you are doing and all you are accomplishing, Abby! Keep it up and soak up every minute of it!
