Soke sa bay!

When I walk around my house, I somewhat obsess over making sure there are no bugs on the ground... or these creepy, crawly centipede looking things.

And when I turn my lights on I always expect to see a few geckos on the ceiling, although I've only seen one in our house.

I always remind myself to get water out of the filter, and not the sink.

I specify "filtered water" from "bottled water" at restaurants, so I don't go poor from always buying bottled water.

I switch my brain into thinking Khmer when I hop on a tuk tuk or try to bargain at the market.

When I grocery shop, I have to make sure it's nothing I would normally use in a microwave, because we don't have one.

I forget some places might not have toilet paper therefore that is at the top of the list when it comes to "everyday purse items".

The AirCon remote is my new best friend.

I wonder when all of this will become normal... or at least second nature for me? I wonder when I'll forget about these details and realize it's just how I live? I did look up the definition for culture shock yesterday, and I think some of these obsessions/concerns fit into that category so I'm obviously still adjusting. I also wonder what I'll really grow to love, that maybe I just haven't noticed yet. It's possible all the good will outweigh the.... "uncomfortable" I should say.

(does anyone know what my title says? your first Khmer quiz!)
