Book Worm

I'm super restless right now. So blogging is always a good option.

We started school yesterday so my body is adjusting to going to bed early and getting up early. It's also hot as hades so I finally got my classroom super frigid today. The only information I have to share about school is that we have A LOT of kids!! Surely we are breaking an enrollment record because there are just so many. My classes are very full and a multitude of teachers do not have enough desks. Not quite sure why the increase of kids but it seems to be all over the county.

Without cheerleading my afternoons feel different and I kind of don't know what to do with myself. I'm supposed to be reading a book for my master's class and I literally would rather walk across hot coals right now than read this darn book. ugh.

Which leads me into the only bit of information I could round up that might be half way interesting to write about... the books I am currently reading.

1. Undaunted Courage

This is about the Lewis and Clark expedition and thus far in the first 150 pages I have learned almost nothing. boo on you Ambrose.

2. Half The Sky

This book is about women who live in severe oppression all over the world. It's a book about change and a vision and hope for women who are trafficked throughout different countries. Several of the stories are from Cambodia women, and that of course, hits home for me. I am reading it slowly though because I have a hard time digesting some of the horrific situations these women lived through. It's really fantastic though. Borrowed it from my sister Sarah. =)

3. Unbroken

Awesome book!!!!! It's about an Olympic Athlete, Louis Zamperini, who ends up fighting in WWII. His plane goes down in the ocean near Japan and well... I don't want to ruin it for you. I'm about half way done and it's so very well written and descriptive. A little too descriptive at some points but it really puts into persective what men at war have went through for our country. Thanks to my favorite author, Shauna Niequist, for suggesting this book.

Up next on the Kindle is the second Hunger Games book and the Anne of Green Gables series.
During the summer, I read:
The Help-

which comes out in theatres TOMORROW!!! Woohoo!!! I LOVED this book and I hope the movie does not disappoint.

Francis Chan's Erasing Hell-

Chan is a genius. I hate to put a human on a pedestal and I have to remind myself that's all he is, but he is so ridiculously awesome I can't even handle it. His book is somewhat of a response to Rob Bell's Love Wins, but Chan does it so eloquently. He actually verbalized several thoughts I had in regards to heaven and hell. Team Chan for sure.

And also, can I add that Francis Chan writes children's books and they are fabulous! We gave my best bud Katie a book shower this weekend and she got this book...

I want to buy it for every child I know. You should go get it and read it. Beautiful message... even for adults.
