Quote of the day

WOW-I probably received the most awkward/somewhat inappropriate comment today from one of my FEMALE students.

It was at the end of class and there was about a minute before the bell was going to ring, and one of my female students said, "Miss Fletcher, do you have a boyfriend?" Which, she asked me this a few weeks ago, and I told her no... so I guess she needed a more up to date status. Sooo... I made some smirky reply or something to kind of shrug it off, which eventually led to a, "No, I don't have a boyfriend..." and then she said (with everyone else in the class listening)"Well, if I were a guy... I would date you!" HAHAHAHAHAHAHA! I mean, I was so surprised and the rest of the class kind of laughed, but I don't know if they realized how funny it really was to me. I realize she was trying to give me a compliment because she tells me almost every day how much she likes my outfit, or my earrings, or my shoes... you get the point. It is a little strange though coming from an 8th grade girl... she is a little treat, too. She is WAY too experienced for her age in many different ways and is now in a foster home because she has had a very difficult life. She's been interesting this year and now even funnier! Then, to top it all off, another female student (who is very quiet and prefers reading over about anything ) was leaving class, passed by me, and said, "well, at least you have a line up now!" HAHAHA.. it just kept getting funnier.

Maybe these stories aren't as funny to you because you don't know these kids personalities, but just trust me, they're funny.
