With the transition to the new FBC building... Pastor asked for everyone to do a 40 day fast of some sort. I chose to fast secular music. (I know you're not supposed to tell people you're fasting, but this is after the fact.)
So, it was rather wonderful actually. This was hard for me because I love ALL kinds of music... and I don't run/work out to worship music so I had to train myself differently. It was great going into school every morning having positive lyrics in my head rather than pointless ones.
The 40 day fast ended last Sunday, about 9 days ago. So I switched on the radio... and was a little curious to see if any new songs had come out. And low and behold... this is what I hear...
"take a dirty picture for me... take a dirty picture... send a dirty picture to me... send a dirty picture..."
SERIOUSLY!?!?!? And we wonder why our little middle and high schoolers are sexting and sending pictures of themselves to boys, girls, teachers even!!! MY WORD! I was flabbergasted! First of all, I felt really old. But then, I realized... this has NOTHING to do with my age. That's just straight ignorance and our kids, as well as some musical artists apparently, need some Jesus.

what channel was that? was that pop music? haha It's funny that we do put up with so much vulgarity around us. that's why no one wants to go to the movies with me cause I leave if it gets too bad (language, murder, etc...) Since moving to TN I listen to country music and it's mostly safe! love this post!
