Such frustration

Errrrr... if someone could tell me how to actually get middle school kids to actually CARE enough to bring pencils and paper to class that would be great. :o) It was just one of those days.... they actually do pretty well but everyone is just ready for spring break and my kids are the worst for apathy. These are my 2 options: buy a pencil for 25 cents (yes, that's high, but I buy them with my own money!) OR give me collateral: like I'll hold onto your cell phone while you use MY pencil during MY class and then I'll return your cell phone when I get MY pencil back. If this tells you anything, I have 20$ now just from pencils. So now, I can actually buy like, I don't know, maybe some tissues and 1 book for my classroom?! WOOHOO!
