2 interesting things in regards to facebook. Number one... they had a story on Channel One (the schools' news program they show all over the country, in most public schools at least) last week about Facebook and how there are things called "facebook envy" and "facebook depression" and how it affects teens. Well, honestly, how it affects everyone thus why I had a short sabbatical last year. But it talked about how people view each other on facebook andd seem to make everything seem wonderful therefore causing others to feel bad. I just thought it was interesting they discussed it, yet noteworthy to say the least.
Secondly... there has now been another teacher in the news for what she posted on facebook about her students at school. (Actually, the first teacher blogged about her students...) All I would like to say is everytime I hear this pop up on the news, I immediately feel pain for that teacher. Dear heavens... I absolutely, 100%, know what it's like to need to vent and feel unbelievably frustrated with your students. Honestly, I'ld probably be the first to side with those teachers and without even meeting them, I believe they are good people who are trying to be good teachers.
All I need to say is that if you are considering getting into the teaching profession, take a good, hard look around and do some investigation first because the education system is about to blow up in our face.
