Did I miss something?

I think I'm a little confused.

We are in the middle of a "recession"... desiring a "change"... and trying to find ways to bail out companies and individuals, and one of the first things President Obama does is reverse a ban on abortion funding? Hmmm, I'm sorry.... I don't quite understand----seriously. We are in the need of financial assistance more than ever and in his first week he approves for us as a country to send money around the world to assist in abortions?

I really am speechless... because I feel that I'm behind on something. Or maybe I'm not... and this is the change I will have to so eloquently deal with now.

(I really don't plan to use my blog to express my political opinions often, but I couldn't resist this one.)

Bittersweet

Well... the only reason this could be considered bitter is the fact that I COULD have been there.

My mom, sister, bro-in-law and a faithful friend with tickets to the UT/UK game headed to Knoxville last night to watch the Wildcats take on the Vols. AHHHH!!! If I hadn't been sick I would have been there! Only if you somewhat stay up with NCAA b'ball will this matter to you... and honestly, and I don't keep up with it much, except Kentucky.

Kentucky beat UT by 18 points... AND one of their best players, Meeks, broke a UK record and scored 54 points!!!! Unbelievable!!!! My sister was sending me texts saying it was not very exciting in Thompson-Boling Arena, and she and my mom were quietly cheering. Heeheehee...

C-A-T-S CATS CATS CATS!

(sing) I'll Be There For You...

If you know automatically what show this song goes to then you are probably an avid fan of "Friends" as am I!

As dorky and cheesy as it sounds, this show puts me in a constant state of happiness. :o) I have the entire set (thanks to Christmas presents and a trip to Cambodia!) and at one time, Friends was all that played in my DVD player when Shawn and I didn't really have cable.

My DVD player broke several months ago, and I just now got a new one, therefore my Friends watching was put on hold. I am now back at it again! I got sick yesterday leaving work which progressed into me feeling even worse, so I did not go to work today. I do hate missing work, because I hate getting a sub and dealing with everything I missed. Anyways, by noon today I felt much better, and my fever had broken. But, it has led to a day of me laying around and watching season 6 of Friends!!! I find myself laughing out loud ALL the time, and for some reason, this show NEVER gets old to me.

Here are a few I have watched today...
The One with the Apothecary Table... Phoebe hates Pottery Barn
The One with the Routine... haha, when Ross and Monica are at the New Year's Even party
The One with Rachel's sister Jill (Reese Witherspoon) and she goes out with Ross

Ahhh, what joy.... what laughter...

Drum roll please....

Thanks to everyone who bought or gave me books! They are all labeled, so if anyone finds them on campus they can return them to my classroom. My kids have already begun "checking them out"!! Just wanted to update everyone...

Church

Most of us are "raised", if raised at all, in a specific type of church. Whether it be your denomination or just the way things are done, we are probably comfortable with one style or type.

I feel throughtout the years I have become exposed to numerous types of church rather that be through Lee.... through new friends made.... through visiting other countries... or just going on my own church visits to explore.

Although I might "prefer" a certain way, I LOVE that no matter what Christian church you might be in, the Holy Spirit is always there. I love that I can walk in First Baptist and find God's word, or go a mile down the road and be blessed at North Cleveland, or go to a methodist church... or a Catholic church... or a new church plant.... or wherever it may be and find and experience His power. It's when we become cynical and a little self-absorbed that we might lose that.

I was blessed to be in Campus Choir under Dr. David Horton and he used to always tell us that NO matter what church you're in, if you are obedient and quiet, you will always hear something from the Lord-even if it's small.

I got a little old school tonight when I visited NC and listened to Jason Crabb. I loooove me some Gospel!!! And even though I love all the new, hip Hillsong, Passion stuff... I still find some of the "old" songs just as powerful as ever.

So here are some lyrics from a very popular Crabb Family song... he sang it tonight and there was actually a time where the CD player in my car played this song over and over and over for days on end. I hope-that if you know this song, you can bust out and sing it right there in front of your computer! It just might make your day...

Through The Fire

So many times I've questioned certain circumstances
Things I could not understand
Many times in trials, weakness blurs my vision
Then my frustration gets so out of hand
It's then I am reminded I've never been forsaken
I've never had to stand the test alone
As I look at all the victories the spirit rises up in me
And it's through the fire my weakness is made strong

He never promised that the cross would not get heavy
And the hill would not be hard to climb
He never offered our victories without fighting
But he said help would always come in time
Just remember when you're standing in the valley of decision
And the adversary says give in
Just hold on, our Lord will show up
And he will take you through the fire again

I know within myself that I would surely perish
But if I trust the hand of God, He'll shield the flames again

It's Almost Over...

My Christmas break is sadly coming to an end... but, to wrap it up, I thought I would just post my Top 10 Highlights, because there's really too much and it would bore you. (No particular order)

10. Spending the night at my mom's house... and sister's house....

9. Eating fondue in Rachel's new fondue pot! And playing a Mean game of UNO!

8. Going to the Station House with the family for New Year's Eve and the young(er) girls at the table singing, "Someday somebody's gonna make you wanna turn around and say goodbye!"... while Rachel was pretending she knew the words, but didn't really.

7. Video Games. The Old and New... Sarah and I busted out Mario Brothers because my mom has kept all of our Nintendos!

6. My new, very comfy Uggs I received. :o) It's like walking on clouds.

5. Playing Trivial Pursuit with the family... which is actually quite useless because Alex knows the answer to EVERY question on EVERY single card. Luckily, he was my partner. :o)

4. Playing the Famous People Game New Year's Eve with lots of random people! And proud to say, the girls won!

3. Going to see Yes Man and listening to my cousin cackle the whole way through... hilarious!

2. Sleeping until 11... and even 12... Shame on me.

1. Celebrating little Miss Harper's 1st birthday!

Well... that's just ten, and I can actually think of more, but I will stop here. We actually counted last night how many nights we have had a "party" or eaten together and done something fun, and it's probably the most of any Christmas! Tomorrow I have to start grading papers and plan cheerleading practices etc. Back to the real world I go!
