Box 'o Fun

I have the best friends in the world. I am sadly learning, the older I get, that the true and honest friends are terribly hard to find... and keep. Sometimes I wish I was a guy. Guys are so good at being normal and "getting over" things quickly, but girls are just totally different. To have a faithful and trustworthy girlfriend is worth more than anything to me.

A few weeks ago while I was in Texas, Katie and I got this box from Lisa. The girls had to wait on me getting back before they could open it, as directed. So, after Cameron and Katie picked me up from the 'ole shuttle station, we ended up eventually at Arhmin's ready to open this box. Welllll..... it was so great! The letter put us all in tears before we even opened anything. Lisa sent us this box of encouragement full of fun stuff! It's been a particularly trying time for a few us and she hates being so far away from us. :o( It had starbucks gift cards, bath gel with loofahs, praise and worship CDs, Seinfeld comedy, chocolate and a few other things. It was so thoughtful and personal. It totally made our night. She acted like it wasn't anything big, but it really was one of the best gifts ever!

I think it's funny how the Lord sometimes rips apart our own personal plans and puts into motion what he wants to happen. When we're little girls we dream of being married and having kids and the whole white picket fence scenario... because we see that as being best and what it seems like should be our "goal" in life. But honestly, I think I'm shocked as to why the Lord chose ME to give such great friends to?? I don't have that typical female dream listed above yet, but I wouldn't trade my girlfriends in for anything in the world right now. The Lord has rocked my world in showing me not everything should go as I plan. Thank you Lisa for this box! I LOVE YOU!

First Time For Everything

Well I did it...

I was just "bragging" to KD the other day how I've NEVER overslept, and blah blah blah..."I just don't understand how people don't hear their alarms... and I mean, some people even set 3 and still oversleep!"

So yesterday, first day back on the job... totally overslept!!!! I was supposed to LEAVE at 7:20, BUT instead... WOKE UP at 7:20. :o) I heard the alarm once, thought I hit the snooze but apparently turned it off instead.

The ironic thing is, it even crossed my mind the night before... "Man, I hope I don't oversleep since I haven't gotten up this early in over a week." haha... why didn't I set my cell phone alarm too?

Soo... literally JUMPED out of bed and started going in circles. Luckily, I had picked out my outfit and packed my lunch so I just threw on my clothes, pulled my hair back, brushed my teeth, and ran out the door!! I had to do my make-up while driving which I do NOT like. I can't believe I haven't rear ended someone before or jammed my mascara in my eyeball.

Whew---somehow, I pulled off a good day at school but I hope to NEVER let that happen again!

Austin, TX

If you know me at all, you know how much I love to travel! I was able to venture to a new city this past week-Austin, Texas! Woohoo! A good friend, Lindsey Mills (and almost her entire family!) live in Austin now where they are planting a church-Free Chapel www.freechapelaustin.com. Won't go into the details how I know them all, but I am so glad I was able to visit the whole "clan"!

Although my trip out west was very chill, there were several highlights throughout the week! Here is my Top Ten List for my visit-

10. Me being able to take a nap... everyday... while Parker napped. :o)
9. Lindsey and I wanting to eat Mexican almost every meal!
8. Sam telling me he needed to go down the hall to see Phantom of the Opera... being totally serious.
7. Getting a Square Cow Movers T-shirt! YAY! www.squarecowmovers.com
6. Eating a red velvet cupcake from "Hey Cupcake!" YUUUMMMM...
5. My Kindermusic experience... truly priceless.
4. Parker saying my name-Babby-so confident and proud!
3. Making many a trip in the LOW-RIDER! Love the Volkswagon Passat even if it does scrape the speed bumps.
2. Being with all the Lombards and their boys! So cute!
1. Visiting Free Chapel!

Thanks Linds for letting me invade your home (and Parker's room) for a week! It was a MUCH needed break for the Abster.... Already being at home for just a few hours, I have felt the need to sit down with my planner and start my list of everything I need to do considering I haven't done anything all week! AHHHHH!!! Organization and order consumes me!

Linds and I ate at a cool restaurant overlooking the water!

Goofy girls!

Me and baby Micah... hanging out.

Fall Break

Although I should be packing, thought I would post a quickie because I'm headed to Texas for fall break! Woohoo! Some very dear friends moved out to Austin earlier this year to plant a church, so I'm excited to visit all of the Lombards and their spouses and children! Yay! And I'm really thrilled I don't have school for a whole week...

Yard Sale

So I pull into my apartment a few minutes ago, gladly home from work much earlier than usual, and I see our little girl neighbor (cute little blond, probably 5)sitting out in front of her door. She has a little plastic bin with a few things sitting inside, and some toys laying on the ground outside of the bin. And, of course, I struck up a little convo...

Me: Hey, how are ya?
Little girl: Goooood.
Me: What do you have there?
Little girl: Some toys...
Me: What are you doing with them?
Little girl: Having a yard sale.
Me: Ohhhh?!

hahaha.... I loved it. Maybe if you could see where we live, it would be funnier to you because we are definitely in NO place for a yard sale! Let alone, a concrete sale! For some reason she reminded me of my dear friend Lisa, who I am SURE probably sat in front of her house by herself and had a "yard sale" with old barbies and dolls trying to raise money to buy a dog...or a cat.... or some injured animal of some sort. :o)
